Criteria
Description

Quality of Education

  • Exceptional In-State University
  • The Missouri School of Journalism is ranked in the Top 10 Best Journalism Schools in America.
  • Although I am not considering to pursue a career in journalism, Mizzou is also recognized in their Education and Law programs.

Location

  • Columbia, Missouri is located nearly 115 miles West of St. Louis, Missouri.
  • The location is important to me because it is close to where my family lives.

Size, Diversity

  • Mizzou is just the right size for me.  There are currently an approximate amount of 28,184 people enrolled.
  • Out of the near 30,000 people enrolled, the population is very diverse.
  • I would enjoy attending Mizzou because of the diversity and the amount of people enrolled at the college.

Scholarships

  • Mizzou offers a variety of scholarships to prospective students, undergraduates and even to adult students.
  • Scholarships prize money ranges from $1,500 to $10,000 a year.
  • As of July of 2009, I have not taken my ACT or SAT Tests, which means I am not qualified for any of the scholarships offered.  I will also have needed to apply to the school before becoming eligible to recieve any scholarships.

Athletics

  • Mizzou offers a variety of different athletics (Football, Basketball, Baseball, Cross Country, Swimming and Diving, Track and Field, Golf, and Tennis).
  • Mizzou is a Division I Athletics School.
  • I would like to attend a college which is known for some of their athletics, such as Mizzou and its football team.

Majors Offered

  • Mizzou offers a variety of majors.
  • Some of which are Education and Veterinary Medicine.
  • Due to my interest in Education and Veterinary Medicine, Mizzou would be an option to consider, because it would fulfill my needs of becoming a teacher or veterinarian.

Tuition

  • Since I live in the state of Missouri, it would cost me $20,600 (In-State Tuition).  It would be more reasonable than going to an Out-of-State school when Mizzou offers the same programs that I would be considering.
  • The Out-of-State Tuition would be $30,950.

My Eligibility

  • Since I have not yet taken my ACT or SAT Tests, nor have I started my Junior year of High School, I do not know if I am eligible to attend Mizzou.  Although it is a goal of mine to be accepted, I do not know if I am eligible.
  • If I apply myself, like I always do, I believe that I will be eligible.

Coed vs. Single-sex

  • Mizzou is a coed university.
  • I would like to go to a coed school if I was accepted, because there would be more people to meet, the school would be larger, instead of a university made up of only one gender.

Public/Private

  • Mizzou is a public university in the state of Missouri.
  • I would like to attend a public school, but if a private school provided better opportunities for me, I would choose to go to a private school over a public school.
